Small Stream Fly-Fishing
The Elk River drainage is a great place to explore .The Elk River Tributaries are poplar for Walk and Wade Fly-Fisher’s that want a change from being in a Drift Boat . These little gems hold decent sized fish and excellent fishing for both Bull Trout and Cutthroats .Some of the area streams including the Wigwam and Bull River’s receive runs of Bull Trout .Starting in July these monster char move up the creeks to spawn from Lake Koocanusa or The Kootenay River .Targeting these huge fish is a lot of fun as sight fishing is involved.Insect hatches are also prolific making for some outstanding Dry -Fly Fishing for large Cutthroats. This is classic walk and Wade Fly-Fishing , 8ft -8.5 rods in line weights 3 & 4 weight are perfect to fly fish The Elk River tributary streams .
The Elk River River tributaries complement The Elk River Fly-fishing experience and they are a short drive from our Fernie B.C. Fly-Fishing headquarters .We highly recommend spending a day Fly-Fishing on of The Small Streams located in The Elk River Valley .
